Multiple-choice questions

The 50 random questions in the theory test are based on 3 books:

These are available to buy in book shops or direct from the Safe Driving For Life web site, where you will also find mobile phone apps, other books, DVD’s etc.

There are also several companies producing Theory Test DVD’s which contain practice multiple choice and hazard perception tests.
We will give you as much help as possible during your driving lessons.

Hazard Perception

The Hazard Perception part of the test requires you to watch fourteen one minute long hazard perception test video clips. Hazard perception clips are computer generated imagery (CGI) and filmed from the perspective of a passenger car driver. You will need to click a mouse button when you observe a developing hazard. All of the hazard perception clips will include one developing hazard, and one will include 2 hazards. The sooner you react to a developing hazard, the more points are scored. Points are from five down to one, with no score if you reacts too late.
